In addition to a comprehensive eye examination, the doctors at Mikailian Optometry are proud to offer the latest in retinal imaging. We recommend this procedure to help diagnose, monitor, and treat various conditions that can affect the eye.

This image in taken using a special magnifying camera to view the retina, the back of the eye. No drops, X-rays, or ultrasounds are needed, and no instruments touch the eye. With this non-invasive procedure, our doctors are able to observe and check the optic nerve, macula, arteries, and veins for any abnormalities. This procedure also helps screen for many diseases, including, but not limited to, glaucoma, diabetic eye disease, and macular degeneration. Additionally, by obtaining a baseline image of the retina today, our doctors will be able to monitor and protect the health of your eyes throughout the coming years.
VIRTUAL VISION
At Mikailian Optometry, we also have the latest in peripheral vision testing. With the Virtual Vision Eye tester, we are able to test for functional vision performance, monitoring changes potentially due to various diseases, including glaucoma. With the VR headset, testing is made easier, and far more comfortable for our patients than the traditional type of visual field testing.

RETEVAL ERG Testing
RetEval Electroretinography (ERG) is a powerful tool used to detect and monitor eye disease such as diabetic retinopathy and glaucoma. It allows optometrists at Mikailian Optometry to measure the electrical response of the retina and ganglion cells (cells that send the visual response from the eye to the brain) in order to assess the health of the eye. ERG can be used to detect and monitor eye diseases early, which may help prevent further damage to the eye with early intervention.

By testing the function of the cells in your eye's retina, mild damage from eye disease such as diabetes, glaucoma, macular degeneration can be determined. If early damage to the retina is found, we can begin treatment early to prevent and reverse vision loss.
